Darkpaw ~Darkpaw ignored Redpaw, and padded away. She could hear the other she-cat talking with Firepaw, then it hit her like a bolt of lightning. Redpaw liked Firepaw more than a friend! Darkpaw smirked. She would have to pull a huge prank on Redpaw, and give her a reason not to like her. Darkpaw caught scent of a mouse, and she thought about Redpaw and Firepaw as she hunted. Maybe she would even prank Firepaw too. This was going to be good! But what could she do?~ |

Firepaw
The tom shrugged, and padded away, not glancing back. He headed in the opposite direction as Darkpaw, for then they would catch more prey. Purple eyes alert, he ducked through bushes and low branches of trees, listening and scenting for any signs of mice or voles. I haven't caught any birds for awhile. Looking up, he scanned the treetops for a thrush, or even a blackbird. They tasted good, and their feathers made excellent bedding. The thought of biting into a nice, plump blackbird made his mouth water, but he shook it away.

Redpaw
Redpaw watched as Firepaw went away,not caring for her feelings.She sighed angerly and turned her head away.She didn't want to watch when Firepaw came back with prey and Redpaw wouldn't have any because of her lack of a mentor and hunting skills.Redpaw closed her eyes but didn't go to sleep.She calmed herself and listened to the rustling of paws in the distance of mice and rabbits.Redpaw opened her eyes and looked at the direction of where Firepaw had left.She looked at Darkpaw and glared,I dislike that she-cat soo much! Redpaw thought.

Firepaw
As he scented the air, he happened to catch a glimpse of Redpaw shooting a murderous glare at Darkpaw. What's up with her? he wondered, surprised by the vehemence. The ginger tom turned his mind back to the hunt, but it troubled him. Quickly spotting a mouse scrabbling at the base of a tree, he fell into a smooth hunting crouch, tense. Cautiously, he stepped forward, scanning the ground for any twigs or dry leaves, anything that he might step on by accident. He'd had enough experiences where he scared the prey away by stepping on them.
Flarepaw slipped forward, one paw at a time, weaving fluidly through low branches and tall ferns. Silently, he stopped, and watched the mouse closely. It was still oblivious to its hunter. Perfect, he purred to himself. Muscles tightening, his claws slid out cleanly, glinting in the sunlight. Purple eyes bright, the ginger tom sprang forward, landing on his target. He ended its pain with a swift bite to the neck, and picked it up in his jaws, feeling triumphant.

Darkpaw ~Darkpaw had been about to bury her catch when she noticed Redpaw glaring at her. She dropped her prey in the hole and covered it in a thin layer of dirt so she could return for it later. Then it hit her. Maybe Redpaw didn't like Firepaw. Maybe she knew that Darkpaw wasn't clan-born, but clan-found. Maybe she thought Darkpaw was a freak because she had a blue eye and green eye. Maybe it was all three... Then, Darkpaw padded over to Redpaw and stopped. She spoke, her voice calm, and not betraying her mixed emotions and confusion.~ Do you want me to show you how to catch something? |

Redpaw
Redpaw's ears pricked at the sound of Darkpaw's voice and she whipped her head around and gasped.Her ears fell to her head and she hissed quietly but not in a mean way."Why would you want to teach me?" she said coldly.She sighed and relaxed alittle.
"Darkpaw?" she said tilting her head to the side."You like Firepaw don't you?" Redpaw whispered low enough that only her and Darkpaw could hear."Im just wondering because I noticed how much you just run in whenever me and him were trying to have alittle fun..." she continued,narrowing her eyes in a questioning way.

Like Firepaw? No. He's my best friend. We were apprenticed together, that's all. ~Darkpaw answered quietly, sounding honest. At Redpaw's question, her heart had skipped a beat. She had never thought about Firepaw in that way before. He had always just been her closest friend, her partner in crime. Redpaw's question had made her think a little differently. She was almost a warrior now. Was Firepaw more than just a friend to her?~ |
