Stormpaw's training

[Smokey]

Eagerly, Stormpaw ran through the Light Woods, ready for hunting training. Lightningtail had told him to find a large tree, with plenty of bird-song humming in the air. Soon, Stormpaw found the perfect tree. There was a bush near-by. "Hm...," He muttered to himself. "I feel like giving someone a good scare." "Lightningtail...perfect! Scaring my mentor. How foolish of me!" Stormpaw snickered. Quickly, he went behind the bush, and waited for his mentor to arrive.

Lightningtail wandered through the woods, enjoying the songs that the BlueBirds were singing. He walked a little faster as he went, and broke into a speedy run. He ran down the forest path and came to a stop. He was in front of the tree with the birds on the other side...

but where was Stormpaw?

"Stormy?" Lightningtail called out, looking around confusingly.

[Smokey]

"Yes! He doesn't know that I'm here!" Stormpaw thought to himself. He jumped of the bush, making all kind of loud noises, and landed right on top of Lightningtail. "Boo!" Stormpaw exclaimed.

Lightningtail jumped when Stormpaw jumped on his back. He turned around quick when the grey ball of fuzz jumped on his back. He calmed down quickly. "Stormy, please dont do that. C'mon, lets train." Lightningtail said. He ran up the tree and waited for Stormpaw.

"Aw," Stormpaw muttered to himself, barely audible. "Okay!" He squeaked like a kit coming out of the nursery for the first time. Stormpaw ran up the tree Lightningtail awaited him in. He just loved hunting!

Lightningtail laughed slightly when he heard Stormpaw squeak out an "Okay!". "Those birds down there are perfect prey. The blue ones are Blue Birds, and the back ones are Ravens. You probably knew that, but you can never be too sure." Lightningtail said as he looked down at the birds. They whistled and chirped, and some of them even got in a scuffle. "Ravens can be furious, so stick with the Blue Birds until you get more experienced." Lightningtail informed.

Stormpaw snorted because he heard the slight laugh from Lightningtail. "Yes, yes, I knew that," Stormpaw said to his mentor. He looked at the Ravens & Blue Birds, then licked his lips. He looked at all the birds, fluttering around. 'But, I want a Raven...,' Stormpaw thought to himself. 'Best if I follow the rules,' He stifled a sigh and nodded at his mentor, telling him he was ready.

"Ok, now. Concentrate on one of the birds" Lightningtail said.

[Smokey]

Stormpaw nodded and looked for a bird that looked delicious to him. He spotted a nice, plump Blue Bird tusseling with another over a worm. "Easy," He muttered under his breathe.

"Now, do as I do." Lightningtail said. He aimed himself at a small, plump Blue Bird. He eyed in for a moment, and when it lost its gaurd he launched down at it. The other birds seemed unstartled, and suddenly Lightningtail was back up in the tree behind Stormy. "Your turn." he said, putting the Blue Bird down and beginning to eat it.

Stormpaw nodded and said, "Okay." His eyes were fixed on the plump Blue bird. He hadn't taken his eyes off of it. Slowly, he got in the pouncing position. When the bird wasn't looking his way, he quickly leaped out of the tree. Landing on the bird, as swift as he could, he sunk his fangs into the bird. Happily, Stormpaw grabbed his piece of prey, proudly, and lie down near the tree Lightningtail was perched in. Stormpaw looked up at his mentor delightfully, then put his stare back on his prey, and began munching it.

Lightningtail looked at Smokepaw proudly. He was obviously enjoying his capture. "Nice catch." Lightningtail said. He threw the remains of the bird down, where the Ravens crowded around it and began to feast. "Now, scince you did so good with a Blue Bird, want to try a Raven?" Lightningtail said happily. His apprentice was definately the best one he had ever seen, and would probably be the best leader someday. "Anyways, while you eat, I want to know something. What is your goal to get your rank to at the highest?" Lightningtail asked curiously.

As Stormpaw finished his Blue bird, he went over and clawed the tree he had sprung from. "Thank-you, Lightningtail," The blue-gray apprentice said to his mentor. "Hm...I suppose I could try to catch one of those little scavengers." He flicked his tail. "Well, truthfully, I haven't really thought about it..." Stormpaw said, rather surprised by the question. [glow=green,2,300]"I wonder why he wants to know..."[/glow] he muttered to himself.

"Hmm... I see." Lightningtail replied. He kept his eye on a large Raven below them. "I think I have spotted the target just for you." Lightningtail said. He looked down at the Raven now, completely syncronized by its movement. It was hopping back and forth continuingly. Suddenly, Lightningtail became dizzy. His grip started to loosen and he fell out of the tree until he hit the bottom, where all but four Ravens and two Blue Birds flew away. Lightningtail just lay there, still dizzy from the Raven's syncronizing movement.

Stormpaw leaped into the air when he felt wind ruffling his fur and heard a loud thud. He turned around to see his mentor, lying on the ground, dazed. "Lightningtail!" Stormpaw gasped. "Are you okay?" He was worried. Stormpaw saw a few freshly new wounds on his mentor. He had seen and recognized some of the medicine herbs. Looking around, he saw some cobwebs, nearby. Quickly, the blue-gray apprentice dashed off to get them. In an instant, he was back beside Lightningtail's side. Stormpaw began licking his mentor's wounds and placed the cobwebs on him. "Lightningtail...," he whispered, sounding quite sad.
