-----FROSTBITE OF SUNCLAN-----
Out of the camp and into the colorful forest traveled a dark furred warrior. At his side the apprentice Soulpaw followed; the apprentice who was now his. This would be Frostbite’s first time being a mentor, and to keep up the charade that he was dedicated solely to the well being of his clan, he was determined to do well.
Soon enough the tom paused to taste the air and was met with the flavors of prey running through the undergrowth. Perfect. He gave a brisk nod and slowed his pace, flicking his tail to signal he was ready to stop. Now to see what kind of skills the quiet apprentice held.
He turned the full force of his stern crimson pools on the younger tom. There was no doubt in his mind that Soulpaw would do what he was told to, but the reactions he got to his odd eyes could be quite amusing. "Soulpaw, " He began, his voice full of authority. "I would like you to scent the air and tell me what you recognize; what creatures you think might be near." And as always, he was straight to the point.

The small seal-point apprentice padded beside is mentor. The cold ground was hard beneath his paws, but the young apprentice kept on. He was determined to show that despite his small size, he could become a warrior. He stopped and sat next to his mentor and listened as the silvery black tom gave him his orders. He parted his jaws and took in the scents around him. 'Mouse. Rabbit. Vole.' Soulpaw mewed, pointing his tail in different directions as he spoke. His blue eyes gazed at the warrior, waiting for another command.

-----FROSTBITE OF SUNCLAN-----
The soft yet sure voice unique to Soulpaw reached his mentors impatient ears. More than once the silver-backed Frostbite had been told that 'patience is a lesson worth learning', but he had neither the determinations nor the desire to instill in himself such a trait. And you've made it find thus far. he reminded himself. But why he was complaining now was beyond even his own best guess, considering his apprentice had responded in timely manner, correctly to add. Perhaps it was just from the enjoyment he got from finding ways in which he was better than anyone else, making it through his life without things they thought important.
A rather awkward silence followed Frostbite's thoughts before he realized Soulpaw was waiting for him to reply. "Well done." he mewed gruffly, uncomfortable about giving compliments. "Now I would like you to show me the two different hunting crouches." he finished with a flick of his tail, though refused to make eye contact, for doing so thoroughly unnerved him. It was how he had been since he was young. But, now, forgetting all that he had to see how the younger tom would do. If he got it right again, perhaps it was more than just beginners luck.

Soulpaw gave Frostbite an annoyed look and tipped his head a bit to the side. "You're joking, right? Why, in the world, would you ask me, an apprentice of 8 moons, to show you the hunting crouches? Please, something a bit more challenging, little Frostbite?" he growled, absentmindedly tearing the leaves under his paws to shreds. Scourge would go and make me do hunting crouches...no, he'd have me fighting. Training to be stronger. Not doing stupid little moves that kits know he thought, knowing full well no kit really knew how to do the hunting crouches right.

-----FROSTBITE OF SUNCLAN-----
Something about the tone the apprentice used flicked the switch of forgotten memories within the tom's mind. Scenes of disrespect being shown to him throughout his entire life flashed before his eyes, and Frostbite felt his blood turn hot as anger coursed through his body. He narrowed his eyes, clenched his jaw, and unsheathed his claws almost without meaning to. This was all instinct to him, and had been for a while. However, it had been ages since it was last awakened. He should have known better than to take on an apprentice in his insecure state. Should have known that something like this would happen. But right now he did not care if he got thrown out of the clan. Who really needed them after all? All he knew was that this brat would pay for his words. No one possessed the right to speak to him in such a way.
"No you little brat, I am not joking! I ask you to do this because like it or not, you are my apprentice, and I therefore have the power to make you do whatever I feel necessary to advance you in your training, and right now that is displaying your hunting crouches! I have no patience for your stupid little complaints, so I suggest you do what I say, because if you don't I will speak to Morningstar about your disobedience and we all know that won't end well." His words were spoken with unbelievable conviction. As he spoke he had advanced steadily on the younger tom until he was right up in his face. He held no conscious intention to hurt Soulpaw, simply intimidate him. However, that was not to say that he would not fight if the apprentice initiated it. In fact, he almost wished he would. He could use a chance to brush up on his fighting skills. Maybe the tom would like to see what a real battle was like.

Icy blue eyes rolled, showing no fear. "Oh, no. My mentors turned on me. Help! Help! Oh I'm so scared!" he mewed in mock horror. "Whatever, I'll do your stupid little hunting crouches." he growled, then moved off a bit. He quickly moved into the first, scampering across the ground silently, with his weight evenly distributed, and his tail held so it wouldn't show above the undergrowth, but wouldn't drag on the ground. Standing up at the other side of the clearing, he slid into the other crouch, and quickly and silently, made his way across before padding back to frostbite. "There, Happy now?" he spat.

-----FROSTBITE OF SUNCLAN-----
Soulpaw's attitude toward him did nothing to calm his mentor's mood. In fact, in all seriousness, it made it only worse. Frostbite thought that perhaps the apprentice had planned it that way. He was glad to see the sulking tom run off to do what he had requested. It sent a horrible type of pleasure through him. So, he had managed to scare the brat into doing what he wanted, hm? That was good. Very good.
As a dutiful mentor should, Frostbite payed close attention to how Soulpaw executed the moves. For all his whining, the brat was actually a good hunter. It was too bad he was so set against it. But, of course, he could have none of those thoughts show through when the apprentice returned to him. No, he must keep up with his gruff masquerade. Which he enjoyed and was not a complete joke.
"Happy? With you little brat as my apprentice? Never. However, I am rather pleased that my threats worked on you. Really, I thought you were stronger than that." he meowed in a mocking tone. Oh, this was just too much fun. "Oh, and you might want to know that both of those crouches were fine. Pity you're so obsessed with fighting. You'd make one brilliant hunter." he smirked, knowing full well what he had said was likely to madden the apprentice. "Now. Since we've had a reasonably productive hunting lesson," he was speaking of proving to Soulpaw that he could make him do whatever he wanted. "I suppose we could go practice fighting a bit." That said, he began to walk in the direction of the fighting pit. It was not far, the only question was whether or not his apprentice would follow.
