Checkerpelt walked out onto the moor, letting the wind flutter through her long, calico-like fur. She opened her mouth and lifted her head, taking in all the scents around her. Of course, rabbit scent hit her nose. She was going to teach Pantherpaw how to catch one. Personally, Checkerpelt thought the young, black cat could catch one, considering how hyper and fast she was. It'd also calm her down some! She sat down and waited for her spunky apprentice to arrive.

P a n t h e r p a w

Pantherpaw bounded out of camp after her mentor. It was her first day of training, and she couldn't wait to get started. She skidded to a stop as Checkerpelt came into view, blueish green eyes wild, but attentive. "What're we gonna do today?" she asked, tail twitching excitedly. I hope it's fighting! No no no...Hunting! Hunting would be fun! But fighting might be even more fun...I don't really know, I don't really care either, so long as I get to do something! she thought happily.

Checkerpelt smiled warmly when her apprentice came into view. We're going to catch a few rabbits, she mewed in response to Pantherpaw's question. Are you ready to begin? she asked, about as excited as the black apprentice.

The dark grey she-cat fidgeted impatiently. Catching rabbits! Sounds like fun! I'll be the best rabbit-catcher ever! she thought, grinning slightly to herself. "Of course!" she exclaimed as Checkerpelt asked if she was ready. She couldn't wait to get started.

Checkerpelt smiled at the black cat's enthusiasm. Of course, we're going to have to scent a rabbit first, she mewed to Pantherpaw, sniffing the air. She easily detected rabbit's smell off to the west side of them. It was like the only one around them. The tortoiseshell was going to let the apprentice scent it for herself, though, to see how good her scenting skills were. Scent for it, please, she mewed in a happy tone.

Pantherpaw nodded excitedly, and waited for her command. As she was told to find rabbit scent, her jaws parted slightly and she scented the air. Many scents engulfed her, but she searched only for one. Ah-hah! she thought happily. "I think there's one that way." she said, gesturing towards the west. That was easy! I hope catching this rabbit gives me more of a challenge. she thought, always ready for a good challenge. She sat as patiently as she could, waiting for her mentors next command. Her paws itched to run, carrying her across EarthClans moors after a swift rabbit. I'm going to be the best hunter ever! she thought with a grin.
