Brackenclaw To Brackenstar!!

Brackenclaw looked around, glanced back at the cats behind him. "This way" he murmured to Stonefeather. He padded, body low to the ground, to the cave holding the Moonstone. "I'll be in there for a while, I need you, Stonefeather, and Firepaw outside. Darkpaw, you can come in with me." he nodded and waited for his warriors.

Uhm.... Isn't a medicine cat supposed to accompany a new leader when they get their nine lives, not just an apprentice? ~Darkpaw asked when she heard that she was to accompany Brackenclaw to get his lives, while her mentor, and her best friend waited outside. She had heard of the way the ceremony supposedly was supposed to go, and now it seemed this was different. Has she misheard? Was she told false information? Or was Brackenclaw just doing it differently than tradition told? With her non matching eyes wide, she looked at Firepaw, and Stonefeather.~

The flame-furred watched, crestfallen, as Brackenclaw continued. Wha--How come I don't get to go in? He's my mentor. That's not fair. Purple eyes dejected, he glanced at Darkpaw. In response to her question, he mewed, "Who cares? I just wanted to see the Moonstone and how they get extra lives..." Firepaw stared at the ground. What am I supposed to do here anyway? Stand guard? What cat in the right mind who try to attack a leader whose getting their 9 lives? The apprentice bristled slightly. Well I'm going to go in anyways.

Brackenclaw glared at his rothers face. He was planning on going in anyways. Thats just like him...
"Darkpaw come on." he meowed flicking his tail for the senior apprentice to follow. "Stonefeather make sure nothing gets in. from Monsters to insect."

Darkpaw

~Darkpaw sighed silently and padded up to Firepaw. She whispered in his ear, speaking so quietly, that she had to be close enough to lick his ear for him, and only him to hear. She was very serious.~ I'd switch you spots anyday. ~Then, Darkpaw smiled at him, and after a short hesitation, she followed Brackenclaw.~

Stonefeather nodded. He had to get stuck with the gaurd position now. Stonefeather glares at Firepaw, and kept staring around the cave. "Dont even think about it Firepaw." Stonefeather grunted.

Firepaw

The ginger tom glanced slyly at the warrior standing sentry. "Well of course I wasn't planning on just taking a quick peek. I mean, who wouldn't want to miss the only chance they'll have in a lifetime to see with their own eyes a leader getting their 9 lives. I mean, I wouldn't mind missing it. I've still got a lot of time left in me--plenty to get a chance," Firepaw mewed casually, sitting down, not even looking at the cave. He glanced at Stonefeather. "But you....well, you probably won't get another chance. What a shame...wasting your sole chance here, standing watch for cats who wont' come anyway." Firepaw snorted. "I hope I don't become dumb enough to pass up a chance like that when I become a warrior."

Hissing, Stonefeather launched at Firepaw. He couldnt withstand the urge. He couldnt beleive what he heard. Wasting my life, heh. I would rather hear a rabbit die then hear IM wasting MY life. Stonefeather thought. He pinned the apprentice down. "You dont know what wasting your life is until you actually do it." Stonefeather said. He got off the apprentice and stood in front of the cave, gaurding it and ready to strike at anything.

Firepaw

The flame colored tom climbed back to his paws, unhindered by an attack. But he couldn't help thinking, I'm surprised Brackenclaw assigned him as a sentry. He's so easily annoyed. He padded back towards him, watching him watch the cave. "You know, most warriors I know don't lose their temper over one little thing. And I guess you're right about the wasting life thing. Besides, how would you know you're not wasting your life if you've never wasted your life before, huh? How? Because you ARE wasting your life. Right now. When you could EASILY be doing something that not many cats EVER get a chance to see in their WHOLE life--and that would be going into that cave and taking a look for once. And not guarding against ima-gin-ary invaders."

brackenclaw looked at the two with a glare. "Stop it now." he ordered. "Knock it off. You two show some respect. Firepaw thats not nice either. " He left and went into the Moonstone hollow leading to the cave where the mysterious stone sat.
Quickly laying his head down and touching noces with the stone, he was asleep.

OOC: Darkpaw is supposed to be in the cave, right?

~Darkpaw had followed Brackenclaw to the Moonstone, and once they reach the stone, she sat quite far from the stone and the clan's new leader. She sighed, and pinpointed Brackenclaw's position with her nose. Then, she stared into the darkness, waiting for something to happen.~

Brackenclaw lifted his head slowly as the moonstone began to shine. "Go get Firepaw." he murmured for Darkpaw to hear. then as the Moonstone got brighter, he layed back down and went to sleep.

Yes Bracken- ~Darkpaw stopped. What was he now? Still Brackenclaw, she was sure.~ -claw ~ Darkpaw nodded as she spoke, and then she turned and hurried her way back through the darkness. Once she reached the end of the dark tunnel, she poked her head outside.~ GAH! ~Darkpaw cried. The light outside was much brighter than the light inside the cave, and it hurt her eyes at first.~ Firepaw, Brackenclaw requested you. He told me to come and get you. ~Darkpaw shot a glance at Stonefeather, to see if he was looking. If he was, she would have to save her triumphant smugness for later. Firepaw obviously cared more about watching the ceremony than she did. Then, a thought struck her.~ Wait, am I supposed to stay here now?

Still sore about the minor rebuke, he sulked, barely paying attention. Stonefeather seemed absorbed in his task. One cat seemed enough for the job. Yawning, he was about to lay his head on his paws when Darkpaw burst out of the entrance.

"Gah! Firepaw, Brackenclaw requested you. He told me to come and get you."

Startled by the sudden yowl, Firepaw jerked up, shocked. It took him a moment to register what the she-cat had just said. "What? Really?" Not waiting for an answer, he sprang to his paws, purple eyes shining with eagerness. "That's great! Let's go in!" He waved his tail for Darkpaw to follow in after him again, and then dashed into the darkness. He bumped into a sudden bend in the lightless path, and for a moment stood dazed, blinking stars out of his eyes.Then he continued, slower, probing with his whiskers, not wanting to crash again.

Stonefeather, do I go back with Firepaw, or do I stay here now?[/color][/b] ~Darkpaw asked, looking at her paws as she shifted her weight from one side to the other, then back again. Her tortoiseshell coat looked somewhat dusty at the moment, probably from being in the cave.~
