New Apprentice

[Blue the Bumblebee]

Bluemoon sat in her den, and waited for her new apprentice to come in. Although it wasn't yet official, she was going to teach her the Medicine cat basics.

Poolkit pushed her way through the brambles that surrounded the Medicine cat den. Bluemoon had wanted her. "Hi Bluemoon!" the silvery cat squeaked. She padded over to the medicine cat to sit beside her and wait for what Bluemoon had to say to her.

I was wondering if you would like to start your training now. It would mean that less longer untill you are a full medicine cat. she purred.

[Smokey]

"Of course!" the little cat mewed as she bounced up happily. She tried calming herself down, but just couldn't maintain the excitement pulsing through her. "I could never thank you enough, Bluemoon," Poolkit purred to her role-model.

You don't have to thank me, Poolkit. I know you will do your best. StarClan choose well. she purred. Lets get started. Over thereare somehearbs, If any are rotted, push them into a pile by the den entrance. We'll take them to the dirtplace after we are done for the day. She instructed, flicking her tail to the hearb store. I'll be sorting along with you, then, we might go out and I'll show you the best hearb-gathering places.

"Okay Bluemoon. But what do the rotten ones look or smell like? All crumbly and stuff like that, or what?" Poolkit asked her mentor. Then she added under her breathe, loud enough for Bluemoon to hear, "That's a stupid question." The kit sighed and waited for an answer.

The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked. I'll show you.

[/color] She disappeared, and was back in about 45 heartbeats with a few black leaves in her mouth.smells a bit like dirt.[/color] she meowed, pushing a rotten one twards Poolkit. All rotten hearbs smell basicly the same, so it's easy to identify. [/size][/center]

"That's true," Poolkit mewed, a little embaressed. She took a whiff of rotten herb. "Okay. I can tell what they smell and look like now. Thanks, Bluemoon!" The silver kit walked over to where the medicine cat had pointed at. Sniffing around, she found a rotten herb. "Here's one!" She squeaked as she pushed the spoiled herb to the other ones Bluemoon had showed her. Going back to the pile, she found a few more, pretty sure it was the last of them. Pushing them there, she sat down and asked, "Now what?"

Now we need to seperate them. They got mixed up in that storm's winds the other day, and I haven't gotten to them I've been busy lately. she meowed.

[Smokey]

"Okay. But I don't know the difference between them. I mean, I know they look different...but still," she meowed to the medicine cat.

Well, thats why I'm here, right? This one is Colstfoot. Its good for cats who ae short of breth. she meowed. Give it a wiff, and try to find all in the pile.

[Smokey]

"Okay," Poolkit replied. She sniffed the healing herb. Pushing that one aside to start the Coltsfoot pile, she nosed the other herbs. "Oh lookie," she mewed. "I found one!" The silver kit was always getting excited about something. She pawed it to the other one, and soon, was finding more and more. "I think that's it," Poolkit meowed to Bluemoon.

Bluemoon sniffed the pile. Good job! You only missed one! she meowed, picking up a leaf and putting it into the Coltsfoot pile. Next we are going to look for Burdock Root. We were low on this, so we may need more. Tak a wiff. she meowed, pulling out a small root.

[Smokey]

"Aha, thanks!" Bluemoon had said they next would be looking for burdock root. The older cat pushed a herb in front of the kit's nose. Sniffing it, she sneezed. "Smells a bit odd," Poolkit meowed. She had scented it before, when the owl had got her and she had to rest. Now, she had a scar. It was two moons before, and it was healing pretty nicely, though it was still visible. "Okay I'm ready," The silver kit stated. She tumbled out of the bramble screen, and waited patiently outside, boucning around.

Bluemoon padded out of the den. Stay close to me. You are, after all, only a kit. We need Burdock Root, Watermint, Tansy, and some Poppy Seeds. I'll show you what they look like when we get out there. Come on dear. she meowed, padding out of the camp.
