Mintflower padded softly through the marshy ground. The sky was a deep gray and the air had a strange tingle in it that made her fur stand on end. As she walked further, she heard a rumble of thunder and stopped, looking at the sky. The first drop of rain, a sign of many more to come before this storm was over, plopped into the dust beside her with a small hiss. She needed to get where she was going...and fast before she was totally soaked. She started moving more quickly, trying to outrun the rain. A loud burst of thunder cracked open the sky, and rain started pouring out of the wound. She was running now, then through the rain she saw the fur tree. The soaking silver warrior, her fur black from the water took cover, settling down under the tree's protective branches, and watched the storm rage on outside. She licked herself dry and made a makeshift nest out of the dried weeds and soft needles that had collected here, it looked like she was going to be here all night so she better be comfortable.

Ironsong had been out hunting when the storm let loose its fury. He abandoned all hope of finding any prey and started heading back to camp. As he came around a corner, he thought for a moment he'd seen a cat but it vanished too quickly for him to be sure. Curious the muscular tom went to where he’d seen the cat and sniffed the ground. The rain was coming down so hard that already the scent was barely there, but yes, there had been a cat here. Comforted that he wasn’t insane he looked around, trying to decide where the cat would be going in this weather. He saw a thick fir tree and decided to try there. He got closer and peered into the dark…he jumped back a ways as he saw bright silver eyes staring back out at him. er, hello? Is it alright if I… um come in there? He mewed awkwardly, but those eyes looked like they alone could do serious damage to a cat, and he didn’t want to make the cat they belonged to mad. He was thinking hard, the rain had been coming down so thickly he hadn’t seen the cat clearly, so now he was trying to think of any cats he knew with such piercing silver eyes.

She was tired, and now that she was dry and starting to get warm, her eyes starting to slowly droop as she fought sleep. Then she noticed something moving out in the rain. She woke fully up and watched. It was a cat. She narrowed her eyes trying to see better. She was pretty sure the cat was a tom, and gray, besides that she was clueless. She didn’t know who would be crazy enough to be out in this weather. Other than me she thought to herself. Then she saw his eyes, and gasped. They shone through the rain and tree branches, the brightest green she’d ever seen. They shone straight into her heart, making it stiffen with shock, then it melted like snow in green-leaf.. She mewed back to the cat in a sweet voice she never knew she possessed You know if a cat had any sense you’d have been back home long ago, but since you’re here…. She got up and walked as far out as she could without getting her newly dried pelt wet again. She didn’t like that she couldn’t stop staring at his eyes, but they were like a hook, drawing her in. In the back of her mind there was a small voice telling her that she knew this cat, but she ignored it, the feeling of mystery was much better. As she got closer though, she could see clearly that she did know this cat...she let out a little purr when she recognized Ironsong, then immediately was embarrassed, she had always liked the cat well enough, but she wasn’t about to let him in on the secret.

The grey warrior was soaking by now, and when he heard the sweet voice of a she-cat coming from the tree, he was stunned, how could he not know who those eyes or that voice belonged to? He then saw a feline shape coming toward him, her silver eyes locked onto his emerald ones and he felt a weird feeling he’d never experienced before. He came forward, under the cover of the tree, and with the rain out of his eyes he saw that it was Mintflower. He caught just the slightest hint of a purr coming from deep within her throat. For a moment he was overwhelmed, speechless, he had always thought the she-cat was pretty, nearly everyone did even though she never noticed any of it, but now, she looked different, He caught a whiff of her sweet smell and drew in his breathe, taking her scent into his lungs. Hi was all he finally managed to croak out. This was extremely un-like him, he was the cat who could talk easily with anyone, and always had something clever to say, but here he was, acting like a fool. To hide his embarrassment, he started to groom his pelt, trying to get some of the soaking water out. He noticed how she hadn’t said anything since the purr and her eyes never left him. He looked up and felt as if they were penetrating his soul, which wasn’t an entirely bad feeling. He continued to groom, feeling his fur grow hot with a sudden self-consciousness he hadn’t ever felt before.

Mintflower watched, amused by the way Ironsong seemed so uncomfortable. She stepped closer to him, leaned in and whispered let me help. She started licking the fur on his shoulder backwards to get it dry faster. As she touched him she felt a shimmer go through her body like she'd just touched stinging nettle with her nose, only this didn't hurt, she liked it. She kept her silver gaze down though, to avoid locking eyes with the handsome gray warrior again. She wasn't sure she was ready for a 2nd round of the mind-numbing electricity that went through her when she saw his deep emerald eyes. Abrubtly she stopped, and disapeared behind the tree. She started scraping the ground, getting moss and dried grasses into a pile.

Ironsong's breath came in small nervous gasps as mintflower came closer, he automatically started to step away but stopped when she spoke. Then when she touched him he stopped breathing alltogether. He stiffened for a moment then relaxed and started drying off again. Somehow her touch was not like other cats' touches, each time her little pink tongue touched his fur it sent a jolt of emotion through him. No, he had definately never felt like this before. Then as suddenly as she'd come, she left. He started to ask where she was going but she had gone before he could get the words out. He tentatively followed and saw her gathering nest materials, of course he though silently, the storm was still raging, they'd be crazy to try to make it back to camp tonight. The usually talkative warrior went silently over to help, for once not needing any words.
