Mintflower peeked her head out of the reeds, and saw that Illusionpaw wasn't there yet..good she thought, she didn't want to be late on her first day as a mentor. She looked up at the cloudy gray sky, what a day to start training her apprentice, but she soon stopped her grumpy thoughts...she had her own apprentice!! She did a little two-step with her front paws then immediatly looked around to make sure no one had seen her. She was nervous, she hadn't been a warrior very long, and she wanted to be the best mentor she could. She sat down and tried to swallow her nervousness as she waited for Illusionpaw, she was supposed to meet her here at dawn.
((ugg sorry, i need muse!! ))

Illusionpaw sleekly slipped out of the apprentince's den. She was going to meet her new mentor, Mintflower. Her icy blue eyes looked back and forth eagerly for her new mentor. Oh No! I was supposed to meet her outside the camp.the young she-cat dashed towards the camp entrance, her silky jet black fur clinging to her as she ran, through the trees. Illusionpaw's icy blu optics could spot her mentor's shape in the distance. "I'm coming!" she yelled within earshot. It wasn't like the normal shy Illusionpaw. Her pelt felt red hot with embarresment, from the unesscary howling. Now, the young black apprentince was only half a fox-length away from her mentor. "I'm sorry I'm late." Illusionpaw murmured in her regular quiet tone.

Mintflower looked up from the spot on the ground she'd
been staring at, trying to think of what they would be doing today
What? Oh its fine, its your first day. She gave what she
hoped was an encouraging look to Illusionpaw. Now she was
panicked, she had no idea how to mentor this cat. She muttered
silently to herself and turned her silver gaze on her apprentice.
um… she started, have you eaten? she looked
down at her paws. She hated how she was acting like a kit being
scolded. She glanced up at Illusionpaw, and decided she better
get a hold of herself…now. So, today we’ll start by seeing the
borders. She meowed, hoping she sounded more confident
than she felt.

The black she-cat nodded, answering her mentor's question. She was too shy to do anything else, but nod. Illusionpaw gave herself a quick grooming, trying to cool the hotness under her pelt. The young she-cat wasn't used to interacting with other cats, so thats why she always felt so embarressed. "Bu-" Illusionpaw began to object. She already had seen, and known all of the territory that belonged to FrostClan. The apprentince kept quiet. The Frostclanner just nodded and continued to follow her mentor's orders. She daintly picked up her paws and began following her mentor, Mintflower, to tour the already known territory.

((The cat sat on a hat and a bat came to pat the cat who was sitting on a hat. ))
Hmm your not to talkative are you? That’s ok, you don’t need to be chatty to be a great warrior. The silver warrior padded on a few steps then on a strange impulse, she veered off the path. As she was turning, she wondered why she was doing this, impulsive didn’t exactly describe her and she barely knew her apprentice, yet here she was, leading Illusionpaw to her most sacred place. She started running into the marshy growth, flicking her velvety ears back to make sure Illusionpaw was following. She kept going until she got to a thick wall of bushes and brambles. She sat, curled her tail around her dainty silver paws and waited, her eyes gleaming. I hope you don’t mind a little change of plans, would you like to learn how to swim?

The young apprentince kept up with her mentor as best as she could. She loved the feeling of the wind against her fur. She purred in contempt. The black she-cat stopped with curiousity on her mind. Why are we here? Illusionpaw wanted to ask. "I hope you don’t mind a little change of plans, would you like to learn how to swim?" Illusionpaw's icy blue eyes widened in suprise at her mentor. "R-R-Really?" she stumbled with the word, but her tone was so hushed, no cat could detect it. "I would love to." she purred.

Normally Mintflower kept her emotions carefully hidden just like the scars on her side and belly but she trusted this small cat so she let out a playful purr. This is where my mother used to take me when I was a kit. Listen…what do you hear? She perked her own ears, shining in the dull light, trying to identify the familiar sound of her old friend, and when she heard the small brook that few cats knew existed, she got lost in a flood of emotions. She hadn’t allowed herself to think about her mother in moons, it hurt too much and she was ashamed to admit, even to herself that she missed her mom. A bird’s loud call roused her from her pain and she shook her head to clear it and looked at the black apprentice next to her, hoping she hadn’t seen any of her emotions running through her expressive eyes. She made a small motion with her head towards the thicket. it’s this way she mewed softly then moved silently to a place in the thicket, She pushed her delicate gray nose into the bushes and a small section fell away, revealing a hole. The sound of lazy water could be heard clearly now.

Illusionpaw perked her ears at an awkward angle, trying to listen for any sound it. Its a bit quiet. The black apprentince gave a quick glance at her mentor, noticing her mentor's eyes portrayed an emotion of sadness and pained, as if it had been there for many moons. Illusionpaw sighed, worried about her mentor. Something about the pain in her eyes made Illusionpaw wished that she could read minds, to know what makes them so sad. The loud bird's call had interrupted both her's and Mintflower's thoughts. Hearing her mentor's voice, the young apprentince looked at the thicket then glanced back at her mentor. Mintflower had poked her grey nose through the bush and about a mouselength fell apart. Illusionpaw hesitated, before going towards the small hole. She carefully picked up her paws to move towards the hole andgave a quick peek through it with her icy blue optics. The sight had amazed her more than when she became an apprentince. "Wow." she whispered.

The lean she-cat stepped away from the hole to let Illusionpaw see what lay on the other side. She was imagining how it looked in her mind. The perfect bright blue/green water bubbled up from a spring, then meandered gently through a red rockbed before spreading out into the marshes and eventually disappearing. The water here is always warm, even in leaf bare, she said to her apprentice, and smiled when as she was the amazement on the she-cats face. but don’t drink it, it tastes strange and bitter. She worked her way along the thicket until she found the well hidden entry, it was a good thing they were both relatively small cats, otherwise they wouldn’t fit through the space between the brambles and a rock. Mintflower went first, leaving behind a small clump of silver hairs on the thorns. Be careful coming through…there’s more thorns than I remembered. she added with a wince

The black she-cat nodded. As she made her way to where Mintflower went through, Illusionpaw was a bit nervous. She never knew what it was like to swim. Would she drown and die? Or would she swim like a natural. The black she-cat swallowed the lump that was in her throat, hoping her nervousness would just melt away like ice in New-Leaf. Illusionpaw tried to squeeze through the opening between the bramble and the rock. She let out a small yelp of pain, her black fur was mixed with her mentor's silver hair that clinging on the small thorn. She looked at the spring with curiousity. The apprentince felt her paws take her closer to the spring. She dipped her front right black paw daintly into the water and quickly withdrew it. "Umm." was all Illusionpaw could manage to say.

Mintflower sniffed where the thorn had taken some of Illusionpaw's fur then seeing her apprentice’s hesitation, she ran to the water, threw one last look over her shoulder at Illusionpaw then jumped in. The warm aqua water soaked the ground all around the spring and shot up Mintflower's nose. She shook her head violently, water droplets coming off her like a rainstorm. She snorted to get the last of the water out of her nose then raised her sodden head to Illusionpaw, want to come in? She stood up fully, the water coming up to the middle of her shoulders, It’s fairly shallow here, you won’t even have to swim unless you go downstream a ways Her gray eyes sparkled silver with mischief as she thought about swiping a paw at her apprentice to knock her into the water as well, but she decided against it. The water had become still enough to see her reflection in it, she looked like a drowned badger with her fur dark from the water and slicked against her body. She peered closer at the water, noticing the fur sticking straight up from her head.

Illusionpaw gently stepped into the water. She waded out to where her mentor was. After a few feet, the water was up to her neck. She could still reach the bottom of the spring. The ground was muudy, and it felt weird between her paw pads. It felt like a mixture of something mushy, and watery. Illusionpaw never felt mud between her paws. She didn't like it. The apprentince saw her mentor's fur, sticking up from her head. She let out a mrrow of laughter, at the sight. Illusionpaw was so busy laughing that she didn't notice that she was actually laughing for the first time, in 8 moons.

She looked at Illusionpaw, let out her own burst of laughter and splashed the water, making it rain down on them. Her silver eyes met her apprentices blue ones, and she felt suddenly, unexplainably happy to be alive. She waded downstream some, If your going to learn how to swim, you’ll have to come where its deeper. She felt the water getting deeper so she pushed off with her strong hind legs and started paddling, each foot sweeping through the water to keep her afloat. When she tried to talk she splashed water into her mouth so she swam back into shallower water and firmly planted her paws in the mucky bottom. Just move each leg at a time, and never stop moving because then you’ll sink! And that’s probably not a good thing. She added the last part with a smile. Oh, and remember, I’m right next to you if you need any help.

Illusionpaw slowly waded downstream. As she went farther downstream, the water got closer and closer to her muzzle. Soon it was up to her nose. This was when she knew she had to atleast float a little bit. The black she-cat kicked and kicked at the water beneath her to try and stay afloat. It was quite easy since it was still shallow but what about when she was further downstream? Illusionpaw gave a quick glance at her mentor, who was now at the shallower part of the spring where she could still feel the muddy bottom. Well its better to swim than feeling the mucky bottom. The black she-cat felt a shiver went down her spine. She kept kicking, while she spoke, "Um.. What now Mintflower?"

Mintflower glanced up at the sky, and noticed it had gotten much darker and colder since they had set out. Then she looked at her apprentice with pride…she was swimming! Your actually doing it, your SWIMMING! she gave the sky another worried glance and added but we’d better continue this lesson on a better day, it looks like the weather might turn on us, and we should dry off. She plowed through the water and bounded up onto the bank, shaking water all over the place, and started to lick herself off, waiting for Illusionpaw to do the same, it wasn’t smart to be wet when it turned cold, a cat could easily catch a cough that way. (( sorry its short, I have like NO muse right now))
