Lonefire's emerald eyes widened as Destiny's sapphire eyes locked with his, and he could swear to StarClan that she was pleading. Dozens of emotions leaped through his head, each prompting him to a different course of action. Never before had he been confronted by so many possibilities that were tearing at his heart. The fact that she had stood between the two of them like that had meant, as she had enforced with words, that she thought they were fighting over her. If Amber thought that he would fight over she-cats like territory, the mouse-brain was even more mouse-brained. No, he could not stand to be in the presence of Amber any longer. Nor did he want to be away from Destiny. The she-cat was mysterious, and his curiosity was aroused simply by looking at her, with her sparkling blue eyes deeper and more mystifying than the deepest lake, more inspiring than the brightest star.

Lonefire picked up one of his front paws absentmindedly, watching in awe as the icy she-cat removed herself from their presence in such a head-turning way. Her words ensured that no cat with brains would follow her, but then again, did Amber actually have anything inside of his head? He watched her leave, for however brief a time she was visible, and then decided he'd rather not be the one that Amber took his anger out on. Snapping back into reality, he said,
