Redpaw Getting a Mentor-Open-

Fieryheart: Deputy of EarthClan


Fieryheart once again jumped onto the Highrock. She was giving Redpaw a mentor and Darkstorm was going to be that mentor. She had talked to Darkstorm about mentoring the young cat. Fieryheart let out the call and waited calmly for the cats to gather. She flicked her tail calmly behind her and cleaned her paws while waiting. Quite dirty! she scolded herself.

Darkstorm

The pretty young warrior had been taking a cat nap in the warriors den. It was still a new and thrilling feeling. When she heard the call, she wasn't sure if it was a dream or not and she sat bolt upright. She shook her head and pushed her way out of the warriors den, looking around as she emerged. Fieryheart was standing on the highrock. The call wasn't a dream. She quickly padded up and sat down, close to where the highrock was. She was used to missing parts of meetings. She shivered with excitement as she wondered what this ceremony was about. This one made her feel different than they usually did. She sat up straight and fixed her gaze on Fieryheart temporarily. After a long moment, she looked away, waiting for the other cats to arrive.

Firelight

The flame-colored tom parted his jaws in a wide yawn, stretching ginger paws in front of him. Slowly, the young warrior padded toward the Highrock, purple eyes fixed on Fieryheart. An apprentice ceremony, maybe? he wondered vaguely. He could remember his own apprentice ceremony as though it was only yesterday. The thrill, the excitement, the eagerness, the anticipation--they were all familiar feelings. Firelight glanced at Darkstorm, wondering if she, too, was remembering their ceremony. After all, both of them became apprentices, and then warriors, at the same time. Surely that was some sort of connection.

Giving himself a shake, he pushed away his memories, concentrating on the deputy. This wasn't his ceremony--it was another cat's.

Darkstorm

The she-cat noticed her best friend Firelight. She quickly padded up to him, and sat beside him. After a moment, she remembered that this was probably a ceremony for her. She had alot on her mind, so she had forgotten that Fieryheart had spoken with her earlier. That was why she felt so excited. With one look at Firelight, she suddenly felt bad. They had become apprentices together, then warriors together. She was getting an apprentice now, but she didn't think that Firelight was. The pretty toroiseshell warrior tried to relax, but Firelight looked upset. She stared at her paws sadly for a moment, contemplating what to say. Hey Firelight. How has your day been? She whispered, finally looking up and at her best friend, her mismatched eyes studying his face carefully.

The she-cat looked around to see some cats gather around. She cleared her throat and then lifted her chin. "Today we gather to name a new mentor to an apprentice." Fieryheart said proudly. "Redpaw, please come up here." she flicked her tail like she had done for Badgerpaw and jumped from the Highrock. "From this day forward, until they have earned their warrior name, this apprentice is to be called Redpaw. Darkstorm, you are ready for an apprentice. You will be Redpaw's mentor." Fieryheart said and smiled.

"I hope that your skills and wisdom will pass down to your new cat." as Fieryheart spoke she turned to Darkstorm and then smiled.

Redpaw: Apprentice of EarthClan


Redpaw's ears pricked up as she heard her name being called from the deputy. Oh boy! she thought, her mind screaming it at herself. She walked towards her future leader and looked up to her. Redpaw flicked her tail happily and then when Fieryheart said that Darkstorm was her new mentor, her eyes went wide. Darkstorm was the one that she used to avoid when all three of the, Firepaw and Darkpaw and Redpaw, had been hanging out. Redpaw turned to Darkstorm and smiled a half-hearted smile.

Darkstorm

Darkstorm nodded at the mention of her name, and looked at Redpaw. She knew from past experience that the young she-cat did not like her. Darkstorm Saw Redpaw's half-hearted smile and sighed then, she looked at Firelight. It's too bad that you didn't get an apprentice too. Darkstorm said quietly. We've done everything together... She thought as she looked at Firelight, then up at Fieryheart, then at Redpaw. She rose, and padded up to her new apprentice slowly. It was her first apprentice, so she didn't want to mess up and disappoint Fieryheart, or anyone else. She stopped in front of Redpaw, and looked at her carefully. Her heart was beating wildly at the excitement of getting her first apprentice, but she was also dreading the fact that she had to train the cat who probably hated her the most in the clan, that was obvious, of course. She would work her hardest to not screw up.

Firelight

A flicker of surprise flashed in the ginger tom, and then envy. The two of them had gone through so much together. It felt strange for her to get an apprentice while he could only watch. Firelight looked as Darkstorm touch noses, hiding his emotions. "Congratulations," he mewed after her. Though the tom meant it, he couldn't shake away the hint of jealousy. I hope I get the next apprentice, Firelight thought. But a lot of the other, more experienced ones, don't have one either.
