Leader Retirement - EVERYONE POST

Dragonstar padded out of the leader's den, weary. This was the day she had decided to retire, and let Brackenclaw lead the Clan. She had no idea what to say, for she had never seen another leader retire before, though she knew it had been done in the past. Padding over to the HighRock, she leaped up on it, groaning as her stiff legs almost gave out on her, then padded to the lip of the rock. 'Let all cats join beneath the HighRock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled, startled at how weak her own voice had become, as if she was being stripped of her remaining lives.

Pantherstrike padded out of the warriors' den. The mini panther wondered why Dragonstar had called a meeting at mid-day, but he was sure it wasn't pointless. He took his place under Highrock, and waited for her to speak, once his clan gathered around.

Brackenclaw padded out of the den. What now? he thought.
Then he heard Dragonstars voice. Oh no
Wearily he padded to the front. He had heard dragonstar talking about this. She was retiring!

"Hey, Brackenclaw. Do you know what's going on?" Pantherstrike assumed he did, since he looked pretty shocked.

The large tiger-like warrior stood and padded away from the group of warrior's he'd been talking with as Dragonstar's call rang out through the camp. He sat down at the base of the rock, green eyes curious. Firewing saw a look of what seemed to be sadness on Brackenclaw's face. I wonder what this is about...

Ashefire slid to the entrance of the nursery, where she could watch the meeting without bringing her kits out and having to round them up afterwords. She'd only been part of the clan for about four moons, and still was unsure about Starclan, but she respected Dragonstar and never missed a meeting or anything. Poisonkit sat between her paws, a look of deep hate on his face, as always. She always watched him closely, he reminded her to much of his father. She didn't want him like that. She wanted him to grow to be a loyal Earthclan warrior. But she wasn't sure it would happen.

Miracleweaver slid from his den and sat down near the High Rock. Somehow he knew that this would be important. Perhaps it was the look in Dragonstar's eye, or the way she held herself. And now, before she had said a word, a suspicion began to grow inside him.

As the other cats gathered round he turned his eye upon the nursery where Ashfire stood, her kits clambering around her. One in particular, a orange tabby named Pridekit, seemed to be trying to distract her so as to sneak into the crowd. The sight made him smile despite the strange air about him. It seemed just yesterday when he had watched those kits be born.

Oakfang poked his head out of the warrior's den. He wasn't sleeping, it was just that he wanted to escape the meows of some cats. The muscular tabby made his way to the High Rock where his leader Dragonstar, sat. He sat down farther away from the group of cats, but it was still within earshot. The tabby pricked his ears to hear what the EarthClan leader had to say. Dragonstar was pretty old so, he guess that the announcement was for her to retire. He gave a quick glance at Brackenclaw. Envy swelled up his heart. Oakfang always had ambitions for the leader spot, but now Brakenclaw has to became a leader.

The ginger tom stepped out of the apprentice den, purple eyes curious. Something big was about to happen. Firepaw looked around at the other cats. None of them seemed very happy.

"Don't ask me whats going on. " he growled loud enough for all the cats to hear.
Sleetpads appeared beside him.
"I know.. I know Brackenclaw. This will be a tough day.." she sighed, sadness clouded her eyes.

~Darkpaw padded into the camp, and noticed the group of solemn and shocked looking cats gathered around the highrock. She quickly padded up to Firepaw, and sat down, looking up at her mentor expectanly. She looked over at Firepaw.~ Does anyone know what's going on?

~Flarekit~

~Flarekit snuck out of the nursery quickly, smirking a little that he was able to sneak out so easily. He was old enough to catch his own prey for sure. He noticed the group of cats below the highrock and froze, his eyes wide. I didn't realize the clan was so large.... Flarekit thought, his eyes wide, and his heart pounding. He was very curious as to what the ceremony would be about, but he didn't want to hang around with so many cats. His legs began to shake with fear, and his breath grew quick. He felt dizzy, and wanted to return to the nursery, but found that he couldn't move.~

Firepaw

He glanced up as Darkpaw settled down beside him. The whole clan seemed restless, and Dragonstar sounded....different. Purple eyes anxious, Firepaw mewed, "I don't think it's anything good." Eyes flitting towards his mentor, older brother, and deputy, he noted that he didn't look very happy. What's going on?


Twistkit

The brown tabby tom poked his head out of the nursery, curious. His parents, Sleetpads and Brackenclaw, were among the crowd. "What's happening?" he asked Flarekit.

(does anyone want to RP Dragonstar after she retires? If so, you need to tell me. Otherwise, she'll just sort of kind of exist in the elder's den, giving out random advice to people xD )

Dragonstar sighed, knowing the reaction of her Clanmates would be extreme. This had not been done in a long time, but she was confident that Brackenclaw would be a great leader, and so she had decided her time had come. "As you all know, I am an old leader, the eldest of the leaders alive right now. I have guided you through rough times, and put your needs ahead of my own. But now it is time for me to be selfish." she paused, not only for effect, but also because she was not as long winded as she used to be, It is my wish to retire. I have no doubt that Brackenclaw can lead through whatever my Clan comes up against, and no doubt his youth will serve him well. Do not think that I will just go and leave you to everything all at once, however," she said, pausing to wink at Brackenclaw, "I will still be here to nag at you to make the right decisions. Now, Brackenclaw, as your first act as leader of EarthClan, grant me my wish." she finished, jumping down from HighRock and motioning for Brackenclaw to leap up with a flick of her tail.

(Sam, here's what you need to say...
“Dragonstar, is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and leader and go to join the elders?”
(and then I shall post saying "it is" or the like...)
“Your clan honors all the services you have given us. I call upon Star Clan to give you many season’s of rest. From now on you will be called Dragonclaw.”)

Firepaw

His jaw dropped open, and his violet eyes widened. Dragonstar is...re-re-retiring!? He could barely make himself think the word. Firepaw's head whipped towards Brackenclaw, wondering what he was feeling. The apprentice had never heard of a leader who retired. It wasn't done often. Swallowing hard, he turned back towards Dragonstar, and followed the elder cat's movements with his eyes. I must be dreaming. But he knew he wasn't. He would never have thought something like this could happen. Not during his lifetime.

Firepaw glanced sideways at Darkpaw. She's had 3 different mentors. Three! Whose going to mentor her now? Or assess her? We've both been apprentices for awhile now. Then, I'm not being mentored by Brackenclaw anymore. My new mentor's BrackenSTAR. The leader.The new one.

Brackenclaw almost choked."Whah?!" he almost shrieked.
Then he shook himself. Gathered his wits, then stolled to the High Rock confidently and with pride of a true leader.
Climbing his way up the big rock, he had his douts, but pushed them aside. I will lead EarthClan. I will do it with the most modesty, honesty, loyalty, pride, confidence, and all the other stuffs.
He stood tall and handsome.
"Dragonstar. Is it your true and finale wish to give up the name of respected warrior and beloved leader and to join the elders?" he asked .

(OOC; do you think i could?Rp dragonstar? Also are we going to change Dragonstar name to a warrior name so it will be easier for starclan. cus remember the nightstar in shadow clan didnt get his nine lives becuase the other leader was still registered leader forgot his name)
